Purse, shoe and fashion cakes

Saturday, July 2nd, 2011

It seems these days that everything is about fashion, so why shouldn’t your next cake be too!

There are so many labels out there that I can hardly keep up. From Gucci, Chanel, Prada, Versace, Louis Vuitton, Coach, Jimmy Choo, Christian Louboutin, Betsy Johnson, Manolo Blahnik and Alexander McQueen, we’ve done them all! Fashionable cakes are not just for women either. I’m sure that you can think of at least one man in your life who ‘suits up’ on a regular basis or has a favourite pair of designer jeans or a neck tie.

So what better design for a cake then a combination of what they love. For her it could be a purse with a shoe and all of the ‘essentials’ she would carry in her purse. For him, maybe an edible figure of the guy in your life dressed to the nines on a cake that looks like a pair of designer jeans with a tie draped over it or even a giant wristwatch.

Just let us know who the cake is for, what colours they love and which designer items they either have or would die for and we’ll come up with a totally personalized design.

City/travel cakes

Thursday, June 30th, 2011

Recently we have had the opportunity to create many cakes for birthdays and weddings with specific city themes like Paris, New York and Toronto as well as general travel.

If you’re finding it difficult to come up with a design for a special occasion cake then why not look at where you’re from, where you live and where you’ve enjoyed traveling. Not every cake has to be a boring/typical round or square cake! It’s always more fun to have a cake look like the Eiffel Tower, the Statue of Liberty, Ayers Rock, or a famous skyscraper!

Whether you have a friend who is originally from Australia and is celebrating a birthday, are hosting a famous musician visiting Toronto for his 80th birthday, having a Parisian theme wedding, got engaged in NYC, have a coworker moving out of the country or want a celebration cake to reflect your many travels we can design a cake to suit your need.

Great ideas for kid’s birthday cakes

Thursday, June 23rd, 2011

As all of our cakes are custom made to order we can create just about anything. Whether you have a pink frilly cake in mind for your daughter’s first birthday or a Ninja Turtle cake for your son’s 5th birthday, we can help. As custom cakes take time to create and the more detail on the cake means more time spent, the cost of the cake will reflect this. So, if you initially are quoted for a full 3D cake and it doesn’t work into your budget we can always make recommendations for alternated designs that may work for you and your budget. Below are some great kid’s birthday cakes that we have pulled from our galleries. If you don’t see the cake you’re looking for, just email us a photo and we can design a cake just for you! Even if you don’t have a specific design in mind, let us know what your child likes and how old they’ll be and we can create something just for you.

Novelty Cakes

Sunday, October 11th, 2009

Today cakes don’t have to be simply round or square. They don’t even have to look like a cake! Your special occasion cake can look like a purse, a pair of shoes, a chair and ottoman, a stack of books, a bushel of apples or a basket of summery fruit. The possibilities are endless just let your imagination go wild. We always take pride in our cakes when people walk into a room and can’t tell where the cake is when they’re staring right at it. That’s when we’ve done our job right when the bushel of apple cake doesn’t even look like a cake at all but a nice decor item in someone’s country home. Below are some photos of novelty/carved cakes we’ve had fun working on recently. Make sure to also check out our other blogs on Birthday, Wedding and Occasion cakes for other novelty ideas.

What flavour are you dreaming of?

Tuesday, July 14th, 2009

Choosing a flavour for your cake shouldn’t be limited to the regular vanilla or chocolate. While those are good tried and true favorites there are so many more delectable options. You can opt for a refreshing lemon, decadent almond, delicious carrot/pineapple, yummy banana walnut (reminding you of the banana bread Mom used to make) or a sumptuous apple sauce cake. If you thought your decision was getting tough you haven’t even picked a filling yet. You can have fresh fruit or a wide array of butter cream flavours like chocolate, mocha, rasberry, lemon, triple citrus, raspberry/chocolate, banana custard, carmel pastry cream, lemon custard, pineapple/cream cheese and the list goes on.

So with all of those mouth watering choices you will wow your guests with a cake that tastes just as great on the inside as it does on the outside.

If you are looking to order a cake we do offer cake tasting (limited appointments available) to help you choose the right flavour for you and your occasion. WE are located in Toronto and serve all surrounding areas.
